New Program-Wide Newsletter Introduced

in this issue:
 previous story | next story

Welcome to the first Program-wide newsletter. Our reports, maps, publications, and fact sheets are effective and important at getting results of individual projects out to many in the community. Newsletters from the Centers have been informative, and the CMGP Web site is a robust instrument to present results Program-wide. I'm very pleased that we now will have a CMGP newsletter to highlight and communicate science results and happenings across the entire Coastal and Marine Geology Program.

The Woods Hole and St. Petersburg Field Centers wish to express appreciation and thanks to Mary Ellen Williams for her excellent efforts as editor of the joint newsletter for the two Centers over the past two years and to Donna Newman as layout editor. The results were outstanding in keeping Center members informed. We wish Mary Ellen well upon her retirement in December and in her numerous endeavors planned for the future.

The newsletter has been expanded to include news from Menlo Park and the torch has now been handed to the St. Petersburg Center. The new contacts at each Center are Ardis Greatorex in Woods Hole, Anne Gartner and Helen Gibbons in Menlo Park, and Barbara Lidz in St. Petersburg. Sandy Coffman will be the layout editor. Please pass along items of interest to them. We encourage newsworthy information for the following categories: cruise news, cruise schedules, lectures, meetings, visitors of note, past and upcoming events, welcome for new employees, outreach, media contacts, honors (best paper, academic, etc.), field activities, major project accomplishments, and anything else that would be of interest.
