Arrivals & DeparturesMenlo Park Field Center
It's the start of a new year and we have a lot of people coming and going, as well as changes in offices and phone numbers. First, our departures: Gretchen Luepke will be retiring this month after 31 years--her last day is January 31, 1999. George Tate, after a short stint as a rehired annuitant since his resignation September 30, 1998, has deserted us for private industry effective December 30, 1998. Hans Nelson has retired effective January 2, 1999, to join Carlota in Texas; however, he's maintaining an office in Bldg. 2 with volunteer status. He and Carlota will be sharing Room 2-286 and extension 5286. Gita Dunhill is choosing intermittent status as of January 17, 1999, to begin attending school in Colorado from January to May. She will return to full-time status during her summer break (also sharing Room 2-286, but keeping her old Extension--5261), and leave us for good to return to school in September. We have a new research oceanographer, Chris Sherwood, who comes to us from CSIRO Marine Research in Hobart, Tasmania, as of January 19, 1999. He will be working in Building. 2, Room 2-247, Extension 5330. Justin Friesner has rejoined us, effective January 4, 1999, to work with Bruce Richmond's group in Santa Cruz. Two new people who haven't joined us yet but will as of February 1, 1999, are Justin Dodds Holl, a geologist working part-time for Monty Hampton, and Robin M. Dornfest, a physical science technician working part-time for Dave Rubin. There's been some scrambling of offices in Building 2. Andrea Ogston has moved out of Parke Snavely's old office into Room 2-249, Extension 5254. Erk Reimnitz has moved into Gita's old office, Room 2-154, Extension 5285. Guy Gelfenbaum has moved into Room 2-243.
