Jim Hein Elected President of IMMS
Jim Hein, of the Menlo Park Field Center, has received the honor of being elected President of the International Marine Minerals Society. The IMMS has members from 18 countries representing industry, government agencies, and academic institutions. The IMMS is a co-sponsor of the Underwater Mining Institute (UMI) and holds its annual meetings in conjunction with the UMI. The IMMS addresses all aspects of marine minerals and all deposit types, the main types being sand and gravel (aggregate), placer deposits, phosphorite, barite, polymetallic sulfides, copper-rich nodules, and cobalt-rich crusts.
