New Staff at St. Pete Field Center
Ivy Muntz joined the SPFC on March 6th as the laboratory manager. Ivy has a B.S. in Microbiology with a minor in Geology and has managed a working lab according to OSHA safety standards. Erica Heeg joined the SPFC on March 13th to fill Jeannette Dudley's vacated contract position assisting the scientific and administrative staff. Erica has an A.A. degree from St. Petersburg Junior College and an A.S. degree in Biological Science from Johnson County Community College. After three years at the SPFC, Jeannette accepted a permanent position with the National Fish and Wildlife Service in St. Petersburg. We wish her well and success in her new job. Dr. Randy Edwards joined the BRD/Florida Caribbean Science Center crew on March 21st, as a Johnson Controls contractor. His duty station is the SPFC. Dr. Edwards will collaborate on Outer Continental Shelf and Marine Fish Telemetry projects in relation to joint MMS/BRD and NMFS/BRD research priorities. He will play a key role as principal scientist in charge of initiation of the Fish Attracting Device (FADS ) research synopsis project sponsored by BRD and MMS. Dr. Edwards has expertise in a number of areas concerning the biology and ecology of coastal fishes. It is hoped that the GD staff in residence will find occasion to engage his expertise and advice in developing other areas of promising collaboration.
