USGS and New England Coastal Issues
Dave Russ, Eastern Regional Geologist, a.k.a. new regional executive, visited the WHFC on May 11th and 12th as part of a week-long trip to New England to gather information about New England Coastal issues. Other stops included the University of Rhode Island BRD and Massachusetts WRD District Offices. In the new regionalized structure of the USGS, he has been tasked as the lead executive for New England coastal issues. In addition to speaking at the WHFC monthly meeting, Dave met with three groups: scientists, for a forum on New England Coastal Issues; information specialists, for a demonstration of the Marine Realms Information Bank; and several supervisors, for a discussion of WHFC management and personnel issues. Dave also spent several hours meeting individually with Center staff to discuss specific concerns. Staff members were delighted to have had the chance to meet with him.
