Dr. Ingo Pecher Visits Woods Hole Field Center
Dr. Ingo Pecher from the University of Texas Institute of Geophysics in Austin is visiting the WHFC during the month of April to work with Uri ten Brink on seismic modeling of the Cascadia continental margin. They are using data collected by the USGS Coastal and Marine Geology Program and Geomar, Germany, to constrain the structure of the interface between the subducting Juan de Fuca plate and the overlying North American continental margin. Rupture at this interface is believed to be the source of very large past earthquakes in the Pacific Northwest.
