"Natural Gas Hydrates" Book is Published
The AGU review states that the book "presents the state-of-the-art on naturally occurring gas hydrates. How do we understand the distribution of gas hydrates? Do they affect sea floor stability? What is their role in geologic hazards? Are gas hydrates a major global fossil carbon reservoir? Do they interact with present and past climate changes? In this diverse collection of papers, authors study these questions, and more, and set a context in which to understand the rapidly evolving field of gas hydrate research." Authors include present or former members of the USGS Gas Hydrate Research Project, Bill Dillon (WH), Keith Kvenvolden (Menlo Park), Tom Lorenson (MP), Myung Lee (Denver), Tim Collett (D), Jeff Nealon (WH), and Mike Taylor, Becca Drury, Chris Anton, and Ingo Pecher (all formerly with WH). The cover picture is USGS line 95-1 across the Blake Ridge, the line along which three ODP holes were drilled to test for gas hydrate.
