Mike Field Receives PACON (Pacific Congress) Service Award
On July 9th, Mike Field received a PACON Service Award at the PACON 2001 Awards Banquet held near
San Francisco, CA. PACON International is a non-profit scientific organization dedicated to the sharing of
scientific and technological information among the Pacific maritime nations. Its members include marine
scientists, engineers, industrial organizations, and policy makers.
PACON service awards are given to members of PACON International who have contributed significantly
to the organization or to one of its conferences. Mike's most recent endeavors have focused on development
of a USGS research effort to examine geologic processes that affect distribution, character, and health of
coral-reef habitats.
