USGS Landsat Images to Appear in the Textbook Understanding Earth
Elyse Rieder, a photo researcher working for the publisher, W.H. Freeman, requested permission to use images of the Atchafalaya River Delta and the Mississippi River Delta in the book. Thanks to the legwork of Chris Cretini (National Wetlands Research Center, Lafayette, LA) and Renee Koenig (Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies, St. Petersburg, FL), permissions were obtained, and the USGS provided high-resolution files suitable for 1/4-page figures. Publication is expected to run about 25,000 copies, which will be distributed worldwide.
