1/7—1/17: Searched for acoustically tagged sturgeon around the mouth of the Suwannee River in the Big Bend area of Florida's west coast during their winter migration. Accompanied by biologists from the Biological Resources Division (Gainesville) and Mote Marine Laboratory (Sarasota). Found one in the 500 mi2 search area.

1/19—1/22: Demo days aboard the R/V Gilbert! Submetrix, a British company, showed off their state-of-the-art, 3-D, bathymetric contouring sonar system to about 20 interested parties from the St. Petersburg Field Center, University of South Florida Department of Marine Science, United Space Alliance (Melbourne, FL), and Oregon State University. Took some nice pictures of the bottom but couldn't see anything above the waterline in heavy fog!

1/22—2/5: Conducted vibracoring for the Army Corps of Engineers to determine the sand resources available off Anna Maria Island at the mouth of Tampa Bay (continuation of a beach renourishment study).

2/12 and 2/19: Demonstrated vibracoring for visiting dignitaries from Reston, including Tom Casadevall.

2/25: Tested a new Rossfelder electric vibracoring rig in Tampa Bay. It worked but will need some modifications.

3/17—3/23: Conducted vibracoring in the Gulf of Mexico (out of Panama City, FL) for the Office of Naval Research.
