The Essex Argicultural and Technical High School geography team, led by their teacher Ann Witzig, stopped by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Woods Hole Science Center for a short visit to show their newly created maps of the Gulf of Maine. They had generated the maps from USGS Open-File Report 99-439, A Marine GIS Library for Massachusetts Bay, by Bradford Butman. The team got to "fly" the center's Geowall system, a tool for three-dimensional visualization, and received a briefing from team chief scientist Bill Schwab and operations manager David Nichols. The students were on their way to Woods Hole village and tours of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) ship Delaware II and the Woods Hole Science Aquarium.
